Mental health professionals are growing increasingly troubled as use of the word "frack" grows among the young and/or socially awkward.
"Frack," if you didn't know, is a silly sounding euphemism used on the TV series "Battlestar Galactica" approximately 27 times per episode. Fans of the show have demonstrated a remarkable lack of restraint (and embarrassment) using the word in public, where normal people can hear them.
Common usages include:
"Holy frack! Check out that frackin' awesome ride."
"What the frack's going on, you mother frackers?"
And...
"Frack? No, I don't think it sounds idiotic. It sounds frackin' cool. All right, all right, I won't say frack at the dinner table, Mom."
Psychologist Murray Brimlow, unlike most in his field, is unconcerned by the phenomenon. "It's just a phase they're going through," he says. "Sooner or later they'll get girlfriends and forget all about the word, and we won't have to endure their colossal stupidity."
But what happens in the meantime?
"In the meantime," admits Brimlow, "we're f--ked."
